Romantic Nights 2025

On the magical night of June 21st, 2025, when summer meets the longest day of the year, Bosnia and Herzegovina once again breathed in romance. The Romantic Nights event in the Most Beautiful Villages of BiH gathered hundreds of visitors across four diverse corners of the country – from the rugged south to the dense forests of central Bosnia and the enchanting waterfalls of the Vrbas – celebrating love, culture, music, and heritage through art and local traditions.

At the mystical Old Town of Ostrožac, perched above the Una River, the evening began with informal socializing at sunset. Guests then enjoyed a witty and emotional theatre performance titled “Žiranti” by the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica. The castle courtyard was bathed in romantic candlelight and lanterns, featuring the exhibition “Love Is...” – a poetic reminder of ancient myths and legends. A red carpet, photo corner, and rustling treetops gave the night a near-cinematic feel.

By the old mills and waterfalls in Krupa na Vrbasu, the evening began with a walk to the Monastery of St. Elijah, led by a guide who shared stories older than time. On the way back, visitors were treated to a rich cultural and gastronomic program: tasting homemade food, meeting rural farmstead owners, and enjoying a special truffle showcase. A performance by DIS Theatre delighted the audience, while the rhythm of the mills gave the evening a gentle pulse filled with pride in local heritage.

On the main stage in the village of Mijakovići, beneath the ancient fortress of Bobovac, the night opened with romantic poetry recitals and classical music by the ensemble Zvuk. Choirs, tamburitza orchestras, gusle players, and sevdah singers took turns, culminating in a performance by Armin Muzaferija and his ensemble. In the ethno-gastro corners, visitors sampled traditional delicacies and viewed handmade items: woven baskets, wooden frames, hand-forged tools, and crafts. The air was filled with the aroma of homemade pies and elderflower, accompanied by smiles, teary memories, and soft sighs.

At Giša’s threshing floor in Ravno, the evening opened with a welcome drink – a local liqueur – and a warm greeting by the Tourist Board. Romantic tunes from a local singer-songwriter echoed through the karst field as guests enjoyed tastings of local specialties – cheese, prosciutto, figs, homemade liqueurs, and wine. The ambiance was enriched with candles, handcrafted decorations, and a memory photo corner, while the gathering continued well beyond the official close – under stars that seemed specially invited.

Romantic Nights are not just a cultural event – they are an emotional story written between the lines of music, nature, and togetherness. This summer magic showed how local community, heritage, and contemporary art can come together into one unforgettable experience.

Those who were there left with more than just photographs – they took home memories woven into the sounds and scents of a romantic night in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
