Educational Tours (April 2016)
Since 2009, Alterural association based in Sarajevo, actively contributes to the development of rural tourism in Bosnia by coordinating professional training sessions for local farmers wishing to welcome travelers in their households.
Along with providing information on accommodation and domestic products, we also offer our assistance to individuals and/or groups interested in discovering Bosnian countryside.
Additionally, we support ‘Educational Tours’ ideally designed for the schools in urban area and young city dwellers to help them explore rural Bosnia through memorable field trips. Our EDUCTOURS are suitable for children from 5 to 12 years. We have previous experience creating tours for youngsters from France as well as for the pupils from the French school in Sarajevo.
Three-thematic one day tours are offered by our partners near Sarajevo and can be tailored conforming to the ages, needs, wishes and programs covered in class. We’re proposing following destinations in 2016:
1. The municipality of Fojnica.
Located west of Sarajevo, Fojnica is a small and charming town. During this tour, the children will visit the Monastery of Holy Spirit containing an important part of nations cultural heritage. There will also be a discovery of local cheese production together with a farm visit as well as the preserved mountain village in Vranica with families producing charcoal. A day at the lake Prokosko (in June or September for the access) may also be proposed accompanied by local mountain guide.
2. Vares and Babovac.
Vares, known for its rich archeological findings from different periods, has a remarkable historical and natural dimension to explore. The children will visit Strica village situated at an altitude of 1000 meters with a cheese production farm, an association of women presenting traditional textile crafts and homemade pasta producer.
3. Kresevo.
Known for its old Bosnian architecture, in this petit and enchanting town, the group will discover the Monastery museum continued by a meal at a farm that produces cheese. Later in the afternoon, an introduction to geology related to the importance of mining in the region is scheduled in cooperation with Citrin association.
