The first "Gastro Fest" was held on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 in the mediaeval town of Bobovac near Vareš. Many associations have presented their activities, handicrafts, and Bosnian cuisine at this event. Mayor of Vareš Municipality, Zdravko Marošević said that Bobovac is the heritage of all of Bosnia and Herzegovina and hopes that this festival will become a tradition. Gastro Fest has been organized by the Association "Bosnian Crown Guardians Bobovac" in cooperation with the Association "Progressive Development of Organizations and Individuals" (PROI) and the Association "Alterural" with the support of Vareš Municipality and the French Embassy in BiH. As part of the event, numerous activities and competitions were held, such as the selection of the best dessert and the competition in old folk sports games and disciplines.
