Training: Use of medicinal herbs in gastronomy (October 2017)

On 4th of October 2017 was held a workshop "Medicinal herbs in gastronomy", in Kreševo. The training held in the premises of the "Dvije lipe" restaurant in Kreševo lasted from 9 am to 5 pm.

This workshop is the third of the 10 planned within the project funded by the European Union. Also, with the distribution of the certificates, participants successfully completed the gastronomic training module.

One of the best Bosnian Chefs, Mr. Nihad Mameledžija, through practical examples, showed participants the use of medicinal herbs in gastronomy. Among the 37 who participated, most are the providers of rural tourism services and the owners of small family businesses in the rural sites.
Along with the project beneficiaries, training was attended by Mrs. Ajša Adrović-Bešlagić, EU Delegation representative to BiH and Mrs. Aida Prljača, EU Info Center representative.












The participants learned how to use medicinal herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme, and other to improve the taste of food. Mr. Mameledžija made a special review of fish filleting and the possibility of using herbs for the fish foundations. Pancakes were prepared, homemade peach jam was cooked, and the colors of rose petals and cranberries made the sweet program even more cheerful.

The project "Building-up of rural tourism destinations around Sarajevo to diversify rural economy" was supported by the 2014-2015 Civil Society Program, with the aim of linking citizens and reducing unemployment through enhancing local stakeholder cooperation and assessing the active population market.

The duration of the project is 3 years, and the municipalities covered by this project are Kreševo, Vareš, Ilijaš, Fojnica, Sarajevo Center, Sarajevo Old Town and the Old Town.
