Workshop - Housing conditions

On 2/24/2021 In the hall of the Sarajevo hotel Ibis Styles, we held a workshop on engagement against precarious housing conditions and poverty in rural areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The training, which was attended by about thirty participants, was organized as part of the three-year project "Improvement of housing conditions for all in BiH". The project is supported by the Abbe Pierre Foundation and implemented by Alterural.
In his introductory speech, the Mayor of Vareš, Mr. Zdravko Marošević, emphasized the importance of cooperation between municipalities and social services with organizations such as Alterural on such projects. The director of the Public Institution Center for Social Work Breza, Mr. Osman Salkić presented the situation in the municipality with a focus on housing issues. The Mayor of Breza, Mr. Vedad Jusić, also took part in the discussion, as well as representatives of construction companies that are performing reconstruction works on residential buildings as part of the project. Prof. Suada Buljubašić from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo, Department of Social Work, with the support of her students, gave a lecture on the socio-economic impact of the Covid-19 sanitary crisis on the vulnerable population in BiH. Given the pronounced impact of the Covid-19 sanitary crisis on mental health, prevention, early signs and methods of action for social workers are extremely important - said psychologist Ilma Omerhodžić, from the Public Institution Center for Social Work Breza. At the end of the workshop, Dr. Enisa Selimović addressed the participants with advice for social workers on the most efficient action.
